THE ART OF PROPORTION: RECONSTRUCTING A BEADED SILK COUTURE GOWN
THE GOWN: VINTAGE SILK TAFFETA WITH HEAVY HAND-BEADED BODICE
THE CHALLENGE: COLLAPSING NECKLINE AND IMPROPER LENGTH PROPORTIONS
THE SERVICE: STRUCTURE REBALANCING & PRECISION HEMMING
Fit is never just about size. It is about architecture. When this breath-taking piece arrived at Suu Atelier, the heavily embroidered bodice was collapsing, causing the neckline to gape and the waist to feel unsecure. Compromising a silk silhouette is not an option.
Instead of simply taking in the seams, the internal structure had to be rebalanced. We carefully detached the lining to reshape the internal boning, ensuring the weight of the beading was evenly distributed across the body. The skirt was then meticulously shortened to reset the visual proportion, allowing the client to move, sit, and dance with absolute confidence and dignity.
This is the real work. We don’t just shorten hems; we restore the soul of couture.
