I displayed two very different bridal styles by the window to make the whole showroom feel more like a bridal boutique.
Over the years, I have worked with many pre-loved bridal gowns, from relatively recent dresses to much older vintage pieces. Some needed only small alterations. Others needed reshaping, repair or restyling before they could work for a new bride.
No two pre-loved gowns arrive in the same condition. Some have been worn once and carefully stored. Others have yellowing, damaged lace, missing fastenings or alterations made for a previous wearer. The first job is always to understand what can be kept, what needs repairing and what needs changing.

Fitted for a New Bride
This gown already had a soft, romantic silhouette, but it needed several alterations before it could work for its new wearer.
I adjusted the fit through the bust and waist, worked with the cups and boning, shortened the length and reshaped the back so the dress sat more securely on the body.
The aim was not to make the dress look “new”. It was to make it belong to its new wearer.
